Tour description

On the classic, original 40 hike, explore the Zahmen Kaiser on 33 kilometers.

The tour starts in the center of Ebbs and leads after a short asphalt section on the steep trail, the Musikantensteig to the Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte. At the top you have mastered most of the altitude meters within the first 5 kilometers. From there you walk along the very scenic high trail along the Zahmen Kaiser to the Hochalm. Surefootedness is an important prerequisite on this trail, as you will repeatedly cross scree fields. Some parts are quite exposed. The views of the Wildwen Kaiser are always breathtaking. From the Hochalm, the trail continues to the Stripsenjochhaus. Via the steep trail down to the Hans-Berger-Haus and further to the Hinterbärenbad, also called Anton-Karg-Haus. The rest of the route then runs for the most part through the Kaisertal valley, which was voted the most beautiful place in Austria in 2016, past numerous alpine pastures and inns. After the Sparchenstiege (Kaiseraufstieg steps), you then walk the last kilometers at the foot of the Zahmen Kaiser back to Ebbs.
