Climbing & mountaineering in Kufsteinerland

Summit experiences

The rock is rugged. The cliff soars vertically upward. He moves forward slowly. The blue sky above him. Rocks all around him. The summit moves closer. Extreme experiences on the Kaiser Mountains classic. The "Fleischbank". One of over 40 tours, with all levels of difficulty, in the Wilder Kaiser. Classic climbing and mountaineering in Kufsteinerland.

A carabiner for the "Fleischbank"

Touristic development in the gateway to the Tyrolean Alps began in the 19th century. Mountaineering and tourism came hand in hand. The Wilder Kaiser is a climbing El Dorado. Climbing history was written here. Spectacular first ascents. The development of climbing gear. The first carabiner in the Alps was used on the "Fleischbank east face". In 1943 the first rock climbing bolt in the eastern Alps was fixed in the Mauk west face. These days the Kaiser Mountains are a Mecca for climbers all year round. South faces for the otherwise still snow-covered spring. Above Gruttenhütte or Ackerlhütte. Tours on Karlspitze above Gaudeamushütte. On hot summer days the not overly difficult and well-secured "via classica", with its nice climbing passages, is an excellent choice. The north faces of Totenkirchl and Kleinen Halt are nice and cool. In autumn Schneekar near Scheffau offers sunny views.

Legendary Kaiser

Pyramidenspitze. Stripsenkopf. Totenkirchl. Fleischbank. Teufelswurz-Garten. Mountain experiences with legendary names. They say that the devil (Teufel) tended herbs (Wurz) in his garden (Garten) at Teufelswurzgarten. The Fleischbank (meat bench) supposedly got its name from the many dead chamois that a farmer trapped and then collected here. Nobody knows how much truth there is to these legends, but what's certain is that the Kaiser Mountains are a unique climbing and mountaineering region. Idyllic alms. Rustic huts. The striking high Alpine backdrop. Panoramic views. Perfect peak tours for beginners and pros.

In halls and gardens

The gears continue upward. Toward the sky. A light swaying. A pull-up. Artistic climbing or climbing art. The climbing sculpture at the Inn power plant in Kufstein combines art and climbing. The sculpture is known amongst climbers as one of the best outdoor climbing facilities in Austria. A children's climbing tower. Over 40 routes. From grade 4 and up. As well as the sculpture at the Inn power plant, throughout Kufsteinerland climbing halls and climbing gardens invite beginners and pros to climb.

Mountaineering lessons

All the way at the back of the Kaisertal, the Hans Berger Haus mountaineering school offers an opportunity to learn the skills needed for climbing. Climbing courses. Child and family weeks. The famous Kaiser routes, climbing gardens, a well-secured practice climbing tour and an artificial climbing wall provide the perfect space to practice. The equipment required can be rented for a small fee directly from Hans Berger Haus. Maximum four people per course. The training objective is to teach safe planning and execution of climbing tours.

Wild Kaiser women

Female-specific climbing training. Personality development. Creativity boosting. Individual women's programmes at the back of the Kaisertal. During the courses, women experience the mountains and nature around Hans Berger Haus with hut hostess Silvia Huber. Experience. Enjoy. Feel. All courses encourage the uniqueness and special skills of women. An unusual power place in the mountains, which the heart and head react to.
