The idyllic village of Vorderthiersee is enlivened by the lake of the same name, which is fed by mountain springs. Pure air and a protected, Mediterranean location in the lake basin provide the perfect prerequisites for growing special medicinal herbs. That's why a herb spiral was built on the northern shore of Thiersee.

The herb spiral on the lake

This area, which is protected against wild animals by a fence, has special medicinal plants that, despite their size, have plenty of space in this large garden, for example angelica, hawthorn, wild rose (rosehip), Jerusalem artichoke, echinacea, lemon balm, St. John's wort, elder, inula, comfrey etc. The herb garden is accessible for all fans of medicinal herbs. You are also permitted to carefully harvest a leaf or two, as long as this serves to take care of the garden. The herb spiral is an enrichment for everyone! You can also find partially protected plants around Thiersee, for example wild orchids, cotton grass, menyanthes etc. Keep your eyes and senses open, and enjoy!
