Under the protective walls of the Zahmer Kaiser, situated at 1000 m altitude, is the Alpine meadow landscape of Aschinger Alm. In this magnificent place, with its pure mountain air, a herb spiral has been arranged right next to the panoramic terrace.

A herb garden in the Alpine landscape

The selection of herbs is coordinated to suit the needs of fine Tyrolean cuisine. From traditional kitchen herbs, such as mugwort, oregano (wild marjoram), winter savory, thyme, lovage, sage, various mints etc. to unusual medicinal plants such as inula, motherwort, comfrey, bishopwort, wormwood, herb-of-grace and many more, there is plenty both for foodies and small home pharmacies. Many of the medicinal herbs named stimulate our metabolism and our digestive juices, so that they not only taste great, but are also good for our health. A circuit walk (approx. 40 min.) starts from this herb garden, with lots of wild herbs growing along the edge of the path. A guided herb walk lets you learn more about the medicinal qualities of the various mountain herbs.
