Weeks of Diversity - Lecture: 'Emancipated yet?'

"Already emancipated?! The history and present of the women's movement in Austria"

Petra Unger is the founder of the Vienna Women's Walks, works as a cultural mediator, academic consultant for feminist education and politics and as an expert in gender studies and feminist research. In her lecture, Petra Unger sheds light on two central topics: the history of the women's movement in Austria and an introduction to gender theories. She provides basic knowledge about the development of the women's movement and emphasises important milestones of emancipation. In addition, she introduces the most important ideas and concepts of gender theories in order to promote a deeper understanding of gender dynamics and encourage participants to critically analyse gender issues.

Petra Unger's awards also deserve special mention: As the winner of the prestigious Käthe Leichter Prize for Women's and Gender Studies and as the winner of the City of Vienna Prize for Popular Education in 2019, she is an outstanding personality in this field. Her commitment to political adult education, which spans all population groups, makes her an important voice in feminist research and education.
