A relatively long and mostly demanding tour through varied landscapes. Idyllic alpine meadows and ancient farms lie along the Trockenbach valley. Several huts along the tour invite you to stop for refreshments.
The tour begins at the parish church in Erl, first via the asphalt Erlerbergstraße to the Gaisgraben. Then the trail climbs more steeply up the Erlerberg and to the right into the Trockenbachtal valley.
This part of the route is varied, crossing idyllic alpine meadows. The trail continues gently uphill until shortly after the Schwarzrieshütte (managed). Then cross to the right over a stream to the Spitzstein. A moderately difficult ascent follows via Nesselbrand. Then you push uphill for a few metres and continue on the trail to the right. It is a short and crisp climb to the Altkaseralm and the Spitzsteinhaus below (both managed).
Return to the starting point via the sunny slopes of the Erlerberg.
