Excursion bus Inntal - Priental

The Inn Valley – Prien Valley excursion bus connects Oberaudorf in the Inn Valley with the Prien Valley via Niederndorf, Ebbs, Sebi and Niederndorferberg. After passing through Sachrang, Aschau and Bernau the bus reaches Chiemsee.

Kufsteinerland guests with the Kufsteinerland guest card can use the excursion bus free of charge. Passengers without a guest card pay the current fares charged by the bus company.

The “Cross-border marketing for the Inn Valley – Prien Valley – Chiemsee bus line” project was funded as part of the Interreg Austria Bavaria programme 2014-2020. The municipality of Oberaudorf, as the lead partner, is supported by Tourist Info Aschau i. Chiemgau, Tourist Info Bernau a. Chiemsee and the Kufsteinerland Tourism Association as the Tyrolean project partner. The excursion bus runs from 15.06. to 04.10.2020. Since 2017 a cross-border bus line has been run every summer season. It runs from the Inn Valley (Oberaudorf, Niederndorf and Niederndorferberg) via the Prien Valley (Aschau-Sachrang) to Chiemsee (Bernau am Chiemsee). On the Bavarian side this is financed by the municipalities of Oberaudorf, Aschau and Bernau as well as the district of Rosenheim. On the Tyrolean side it is financed by the Kufsteinerland Tourism Association. The Inn Valley – Prien Valley – Chiemsee bus route needs to establish itself and encourage both guests and locals to make use of the attractive offer. To do this it needs cross-border cooperation for advertisements and a common brand. People need to be informed that there are no limits to public transport across borders and encouraged to see the region as a unified area. The goal of this project is to connect the integrated municipalities, transport companies and local public authorities as well as establish joint marketing for the bus line. The main output will be a flyer with a timetable and information about excursion destinations near the bus stops.

Kufstein – Schliersee excursion bus

The Kufstein – Schliersee excursion bus connects Kufsteinerland with neighbouring Bavaria. Kufsteinerland guests with the Kufsteinerland guest card can use the excursion bus free of charge. Passengers without a guest card pay the listed fares charged by the bus company.

Cross-border marketing for the Schliersee-Kufstein bus line
The last cross-border bus line in this area existed over 30 years ago, so as part of this project there were accompanying marketing measures introduced to advertise the newly re-established connection. The goal is to give both locals and tourists the opportunity to use public transport to cross the border. The bus can also be used by hikers on long-distance hiking paths in summer or skiers on cross-country skiing trails in winter, who can get on and off the bus wherever they like.
