Be La Flo - bags and more - Niederndorf

Creative Mind Full of Ideas

Claudia Speiser has achieved what many dream of: the resident of Niederndorf has turned her hobby into a profession. She creates unique and special bags in all sizes and shapes from colorful fabrics and vegan leather.

From Hobby to Own Business by Chance

The path to her own small business "Be La Flo" (named after the initials of her children's names) was a happy coincidence: Claudia Speiser has always enjoyed sewing, relying on tried-and-tested "learning by doing." "I don't have a formal training in sewing; I taught myself through YouTube videos and a lot of practice," she explains.

In 2018, she finally made her first handbag – and immediately received many positive reactions. "I can still remember that first purple bag," she recalls. She even got compliments on her handbag from strangers on the street, she says with a smile. Word of mouth eventually led more people to discover her products and request handbags made by Claudia Speiser.

As more inquiries came in, Claudia registered a business, laying the foundation for "Be La Flo – Bags and More." Customers can now get inspired on her website www.belaflo.at, on social media, and WhatsApp, where Claudia regularly showcases new models and ideas. Orders can be placed directly with her.

Favorite Bags Made to Measure

Claudia Speiser usually makes her models to order in her sewing room at home. This has practical reasons: as a creative mom of three, she can flexibly allocate her sewing time and work in her small sewing studio whenever her commitments allow.

Claudia also loves showcasing her bags at craft and art markets, preparing various models for these events. During the Christmas season, she always has classic everyday bags and small gift items, such as makeup pouches, in stock. Otherwise, everything is made to order, according to the buyers' individual preferences. She makes everything from diaper bags to shopping bags, shoulder bags to chic pouches. There's even a homemade doctor's bag for children in her range. Claudia also plans to make larger bags, such as travel bags, in the future.

Sewing Machine Instead of Yoga

She spends most evenings in her sewing room. "Sewing is a way for me to slow down from everyday life, a brief escape," she says. "Instead of doing yoga, I sit at the sewing machine." She sources her fabrics from small local shops whenever possible, emphasizing the importance of regionality, mutual support, and strengthening each other.

More Sustainability: Beautiful Pieces to Wear for a Long Time

Claudia Speiser also uses felt or leather for her materials. "But only vegan leather, which is made from plant fibers," she says. She frequently repurposes old, already used fabrics, like denim, giving them new life. This way, she creates sustainable favorite pieces with her bags that customers love to carry for many years.

The "Be La Flo" models are colorful and vibrant, with original patterns or embroidery, and can be personalized. Thanks to her training as a color consultant, Claudia is particularly adept at combining colors. She finds inspiration for new designs in the process itself, with ideas emerging from the different fabrics.

Bag Models for Every Budget

So far, most of Claudia's customers have come from the local area. However, the diligent bag designer has also shipped beyond Tyrol's borders and is delighted to have customers from Germany. Those who wish to own a "Be La Flo" bag can find inspiration online. Gift vouchers are also available, allowing the recipient to design their future trusty companion. The prices for handmade bags range from 15 to 90 euros, depending on size.
