Lake Arena Hechtsee - Kufstein

The Hechtsee is 57 meters deep and has a water surface of around 28 hectares. Located near the border with neighboring Bavaria, surrounded by the Brandenberger Alps, and not far from Thierberg. The Hechtsee is one of the most popular bathing lakes in the region, thanks to its excellent water quality and stunning views. In addition to many sought-after fish species, pikes also inhabit the Hechtsee. However, the lake owes its name not to the fish, but to the water nymph "Hechta," who, according to legend, is said to have lived there.

The beach area offers sunbathing areas, a children's playground, a table tennis table, as well as a beach volleyball and water volleyball court. There are also numerous lovely spots around the lake to relax.

Many hiking opportunities start at Hechtsee, including a circular trail along the shore and the 4-Lakes hike, which passes the Egelsee, Längsee, and Pfrillsee.

Stress-free to the lake The leisure bus line 50 connects Kufstein to Hechtsee during the bathing season. The line is included in the KufsteinCard, KufsteinerlandCard, as well as the Tirol and Austria Climate Ticket.
