Historic City Trail Kufstein
Two trails – one story
The free Historic Town Trail is ideal for anyone who would like to discover Kufstein’s history. There are two ways to experience the trail: it can be explored either as a classic circular walk with information boards or as an interactive puzzle adventure supported by an app and a clue card.
The overview map and the sealed clue card for the town trail are available at the first station on Unterer Stadtplatz or at the Kufsteinerland Tourist Board office (Unterer Stadtplatz 11).
The Classic Town Trail – history to read at your leisure (1 hour)
The circular route leads through the fascinating past of the historic fortress town, surrounded by the Tyrolean mountain landscape of Kufsteinerland. Starting from the former marketplace, today’s Unterer Stadtplatz, the trail circles the fortress hill.
Picturesque alleyways and intriguing historical figures open a window onto the past and allow the present to be seen from a new perspective.
The circular walk is complemented by three additional stations that extend the town trail into short hikes and offer impressive views of the fortress town.

Those who want to do more than just read about history can enhance the Historic Town Trail with an interactive puzzle adventure. Equipped with an app and a sealed clue card, you set off on a fictional historical adventure through the old town.
Along the way, you solve tricky puzzles related to Kufstein’s history and save the fortress from impending danger.
The information boards of the Historic Town Trail accompany you along the route, providing fascinating background information.
