Tour description

This leisurely winter walk through Erl combines snowy landscapes, beautiful views and fascinating insights into the village’s history.

The route starts at Erl Parish Church, where the rare 3rd-century Mithras Stone can be found in the vestibule. From there, the path leads through the village at the foot of the Erlerberg, offering wonderful views of the Zahmer Kaiser and the surrounding mountains. One of the highlights is the Kalvarienberg, which is closely linked to Erl’s approximately 400-year-old Passion Play tradition. A modern Way of the Cross featuring works by artist Anton Christian combines religious history with contemporary art. From here, You can also enjoy views of the Passion Play Theatre, the Festival Theatre and the wintry Inn Valley. The route then follows the edge of the forest back to the centre of Erl.
