Return to the origins. Enjoy the forest, the water, the meadows and immerse yourself in the common history. The Ursprungweg, which is just under 52 kilometers long, leads from the Bavarian Wörnsmühl near Fischbachau via Bayrischzell and the Ursprungpass to the Tyrolean Riedenberg and on to Thiersee.
A special feature of the final stage of the Ursprung Trail: There are two route options:
Long Riedenberg Stage: Landl – Vorderthiersee 24 km | 510 m elevation gain | approx. 7.5 hours (red)
This challenging stage takes around seven hours. The trail follows gently ascending forest roads up to an altitude of almost 1,000 metres, where you'll reach the Riedenberg raised bog. From there, continue along the forest road to Hinterthiersee before reaching the final destination, Vorderthiersee, via a woodland path.
Short Riedenberg Stage: Landl – Vorderthiersee 10 km | 270 m elevation gain | approx. 3.5 hours (blue)
The final stage can also be shortened. Starting in Landl, the route passes the Almbad, follows the Hinterthiersee road for a short distance, then crosses the stream and turns off towards the Glemmtal valley. From there, the trail continues via Hinterthiersee to Vorderthiersee, where a turquoise mountain lake awaits – perfect for a refreshing swim.
Note: There is no luggage transfer service available on the Ursprung Trail.
