Tour description

A tranquil, somewhat secluded circular route in the Thierseetal, requiring a stretch along the main road. The challenging ascent at Sonnberg rewards with magnificent views of the Kaiser Mountains.

Starting from the center of Landl, this tour initially follows the main road towards Bayrischzell until reaching the Ursprungpass. Just before reaching the barrier, turn right onto the forest path towards Trainsalm. A moderate ascent of about 9 km follows until the highest point of the circular tour, reaching approximately 1244 m. The fantastic view into the front Thierseetal helps recharge your batteries. Then, descend on the forest road through a few switchbacks. The Sonnberg Tour concludes back in Landl at the starting point along the main road, which leads slightly uphill. A worthwhile detour includes a 30-minute hike past Trainsalm to Trainsjoch.

Tip: This route can also be combined with another tour in the Thiersee area or with a trip to the lake.
