WELCOME TO PLASTIC PLANET
EXHIBITION KLAUS WENINGER: Art objects made from beach debris - "Think-Males" for plastic avoidance and environmental protection. The Tyrolean multimedia artist Klaus Weninger is known for his socially and politically critical works and art projects. To reflect and comment on universally important themes, he chooses a wide range of artistic expressions. Since 2010, the passionate hiker and nature lover Klaus Weninger has focused his work on art pieces addressing environmental protection. The projects developed under the name CIRCUS CLIMATE have primarily been realized in public spaces with the involvement of children and young people from schools and social institutions. Numerous awards at state and federal levels attest to the high quality of these works. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of this initiative, the city gallery dia:log Kufstein presents the artist's latest project:
EXHIBITION CIRCUS CLIMATE BEACH PLASTIC OBJECTS "WELCOME TO PLASTIC PLANET" Showcased are ART OBJECTS and INSTALLATIONS carefully assembled by Klaus Weninger from countless pieces of plastic waste (closures, bottles, cords, toys, fragments...) and reinterpreted in the process. The "plastic" for these works has been collected by Weninger over the years during his hikes along the Mediterranean coasts. Through his poetically dramatic imagery, Weninger draws attention to the high pollution of the oceans and raises awareness among viewers about microplastics, environmental, and climate protection. The humorously surreal, often bizarre figures may appear harmlessly like toys at first glance - upon closer inspection, they clearly reference the environmental sins of our society and the resulting consequences. The figurative objects are displayed both in their original form and additionally as enlarged digital photographs in the style of advertising posters. Weninger chose this special presentation format as a critique of our consumption behavior and our throwaway society, which significantly contributes to the environmental disasters on our planet. A retrospective look at the CIRCUS CLIMATE projects realized since 2010 is provided by additional photo documents in the form of travel postcards. Quote from the 27th UN CLIMATE CONFERENCE: "We are racing full speed into the climate hell!" (UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemns the global lack of climate protection in his speech before 100 heads of state and government)
