Theater 'Cyrano de Bergerac'

From October 6, the Stadttheater Kufstein will be showing the romantic comedy “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Martin Crimp, freely adapted from Edmond Rostand.

As a soldier, the quick-tempered macho Cyrano is feared; as a poet, however, he is revered thanks to his eloquence, and his subversive wit is sharper than the blade of his sword. Only in love does Cyrano have a real handicap: his oversized nose prevents him from revealing himself to the smart and beautiful Roxane, whom he has adored since his youth. To make matters worse, Roxane confesses to him that she has fallen in love with Christian, an Adonis with a six-pack but limited intelligence.

Not without self-interest, Cyrano is prepared to help Christian and writes the most wonderful letters to Roxane on his behalf, telling him what he needs to say to stand up to her. In the long run, however, this becomes tiresome and Cyrano, Christian and Roxane increasingly lose their way in the labyrinth of appearance and reality, self-determination and heteronomy.

In the leading roles:

  • Klaus Schneider as Cyrano,
  • Verena Kirchner as Roxane and
  • Albin Winkler as Christian.

A total of 14 actors are involved.

Director Ádám Hevér was born in Hungary, graduated from the International School Kufstein and is currently studying at the University of Vienna. He received an award at the “Nacht der Kunst” for his successful production of “Atmen” at the Stadttheater Kufstein last year.

  • Dates: October 6, 9, 13, 16, 20 and 31 at the Kultur Quartier Kufstein.
  • Start on Sundays at 6.00 pm, otherwise 7.30 pm.
  • Tickets: stadttheater-kufstein.at and at Raiffeisen Bezirksbank Kufstein
