Sedaa - Mongolian meets Oriental (MNG, IRN)

Sedaa' means “voice” in Persian and combines traditional Mongolian music with oriental music to create an unusual and fascinating whole. The master singers Nasaa Nasanjargal, Naraa Naranbaatar - known from the group Transmongolia - and the virtuoso dulcimer player Ganzorig Davaakhuu, trained in their Mongolian homeland, together with the Iranian multi-instrumentalist Omid Bahadori, transport the listener to a truly exotic world between the Orient and the Mongolian steppe. Their modern compositions are based on natural sounds - produced with traditional instruments and using the ancient singing techniques of nomadic ancestors, in which one person produces several sounds at the same time. Vibrating undertone chants and the throat singing Hömii as well as the wistful sounds of the horse-headed violin Morin Khuur and the pearly tones of the 120-stringed dulcimer merge with pulsating oriental drum rhythms to create a mystical melange of vibrations and moods. Bandleader Omid Bahadori has already performed at THE ART OF SOLO together with Manuel Randi in Kufstein.
