On March 22, 2026, Funplexx Kufstein will show the music documentary "Romeo and Juliet in Music" by Rudolf Wallner. At the center is perhaps the world's most famous love story: William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
The tragic tale of the two lovers has inspired composers for centuries - from the Classical era to the 20th century. Wallner contrasts seven significant musical settings, including works by Georg Benda, Vincenzo Bellini, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Charles Gounod, Hector Berlioz, Sergei Prokofiev, Riccardo Zandonai, and Leonard Bernstein.
The musical scenes are linked with corresponding passages from Shakespeare's drama. This creates exciting comparisons - both in the course of the storyline and in the very different stylistic expressions of the composers.
The result is a film presentation that impressively shows the wealth of magnificent music concealed in this timelessly beautiful material. An inspiring morning for both music and literature lovers.
Tickets available at the Kufstein Town Hall, TVB Kufsteinerland, at all Ö-Ticket sales points, and at www.kultur.kufstein.at
