OSKA - Hallucinating Tour

"Inheritance" is a term that can mean different things to different people. For some, it's simply about blood relations. To others, it's about making good decisions that will impact future generations. For Maria, an Austrian-born indie-pop singer/songwriter who makes OSKA music, the term encompasses both. This theme also runs through her impressive debut album, "My world, My love, Paris," which was released on February 25, 2022.
Together with four older siblings, Maria grew up in a large family where music was present in every room. Her mother, also a musician, filled the house with the sounds of guitars, Irish music and ballads. In her teens, Maria learned to play guitar on her own and hurried home from school to write songs. Her influences were varied and ranged from Joan Baez, Regina Spektor, Jack Johnson to Kate Nash, Sara Bareilles and Irish folk music.
At 16, Maria decided to make her way in Vienna as a street musician after graduating from high school. On the advice of her mother, Maria studied pop and jazz singing rather half-heartedly: "I played music a lot on the street and took every opportunity to play live. I learned more in the process than during my music studies."

In mid-2020, she hit the big time. The Waldviertel native signed her first record deal with the Canadian label Nettwerk, won the XA Music Export Award at the Waves Vienna Festival 2020 a short time later, released her debut EP "Honeymoon Phase" in January 2021, landed in the Austrian airplay charts with three of her songs, and scored 2 nominations at this year's Amadeus Austrian Music Award. With plays on Ö1, Ö3 and FM4 she managed a balancing act that only very few artists in Austria are rewarded with. In addition to all the major publications in her home country, OSKA was also able to convince the international press in Germany, Holland, France, Italy and even in the USA of her and her music.
Today Maria is living out her rich musical heritage in Vienna, where she has completed her album "My world, My love, Paris", which will also feature previously released songs such as "Lousy T-Shirt", "Woodstock", "Starstruck" and "Responsibility". Over the years, her tastes have naturally evolved; at 25, Maria counts the most groundbreaking singer/songwriters among her influences; Phoebe Bridgers, Adrianne Lenker, Sufjan Stevens and Christian Lee Hutson. As OSKA, Maria creates an enticing world of radiant melodies, grooving rhythms and poetic lyrics that tell stories. Ultimately, despite the disparate themes of love, grief, climate change and family, "My world, My love, Paris" is a snapshot of a young woman trying to make sense of growing older in an increasingly uncertain time.

Tickets from € 21 (plus VVK fee) at www.oeticket.com, www.ntry.at and all known VVK points and Raiffeisenbanken Tirol. (Reduced tickets for Raiffeisen CLUB members!), box office € 25.
