HEAVYSAURUS - Tour
World's first dino metal band - The Finnish phenomenon comes to Austria! Heavysaurus is the world's first children's rock band with musical borrowings from hard rock and heavy metal, packed into a spectacular stage show with a real live band - in dinosaur costumes. Created in Finland in 2009, Heavysaurus has quickly won over children (and their parents): with over a quarter of a million albums sold, the rocking dinosaurs have already won several platinum awards. The debut entered the national charts at number 5 and was even nominated for the Emma Award 2010, the highest Finnish music prize.
The live band has played well over 400 concerts in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and UK. Heavysaurus always makes the little rockers dance, sing and headbang. Because dinosaurs are of course cool for all 3 to 10 year olds, they are strong, wild and also a little bit funny. And making noise is always fun. The concerts with a great show, great costumes and lyrics suitable for children make children's eyes light up, at the same time all rocking parents are happy about real metal songs. Now Heavysaurus comes to Germany, Austria and Switzerland via Sony Music: In spring 2018 the first album was released - physically as well as for download and streaming. The Finnish songs of the original were translated into German, and there are also two songs composed especially for German kids. The lyrics are by Frank Ramond, who has already written for Udo Lindenberg, Roger Cicero and other greats.
They are sung by Michael Voss, who has been a successful musician, producer and songwriter for several decades, for example with and for Mad Max, Wolfpakk and Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock. The first concert already took place in summer 2017, with a prime-time performance at the Mounds Festival in the Austrian tourist region of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. For this, experienced musicians from the German scene transformed themselves into rocking dinosaurs and brought an authentic metal show live on stage - with lots of action, fun and opportunities to join in. Verein Kulturfabrik presented: How it all began... The beginnings of Heavysaurus lie in Finland, where the five year old son of drummer Mirka Rantanen of the band Thunderstone started to be interested in hard music from bands like Kiss, Guns N' Roses and Metallica. In order to give these sounds a child-friendly framework and suitable lyrics, Rantanen started a new band in 2009 and created the legend of the five primeval giants that had been hidden underground for millions of years and now hatched with the help of magic witches - as the metal dinos "Mr. Heavysaurus" (vocals), "Riffi Raffi" (guitar), "Komppi Momppi" (drums) and the dragon girl "Milli Pilli" (keyboards). The characters and their stories inspire the kids, the songs with titles like "Dinosauri Yeah" deal with topics that move little rockers and dinosaur fans: treasure hunts by message in a bottle, huge bubbles of chewing gum and the encouraging message that everyone is cool just the way they are. They tell of the dinos' wild life and the joy of loud rock. This concept combines music, learning, playing and movement and now extends from sound carriers, merchandise and mobile games to a 90-minute film - for collecting, playing and above all for rocking along.
