2018 UCI Road World Championships Innsbruck-Tirol

Eight competition days. Twelve competitions. Around 1,000 athletes. Up to 350,000 spectators. The race is broadcast in 150 countries. Preparations for the UCI Road World Championships Innsbruck-Tirol in September 2018 are going on for a long time.

The UCI Road World Championships Innsbruck-Tirol will take place in Austria for the third time. After Salzburg and Villach, in 2018 it's Tyrol's turn to be the venue. The competitions take place in a network that covers the entire state. The twelve races will start in the regions of Ötztal, Alpbachtal Seenland, Hall-Wattens and Kufstein. From there they all lead to the state capital Innsbruck. Kufstein is the starting point for the elite race with about 5,000 meters of altitude gain, and will therefore be the focus of attention.

VIP programme as part of the UCI Road World Championships start in Kufstein

There will be a designated VIP area as part of the start of the elite race in Kufstein. It will be divided into two sections. An exclusive stand in the Oberer Stadtplatz will offer direct views of the starting field and video wall. Catering with a live broadcast and cosy get-together will take place in the adjoining Cultural Quarter. All of the race tracks for the UCI Road World Championships (apart from the finish area and VIP area) are freely accessible to fans and spectators.

UCI Road World Championships – Supporting Program

Two top acts will be performing at Kufstein Fortress as part of the UCI Road World Championships in Kufstein. This building is one of the most imposing mediaeval structures in Tyrol. The fortress was developed into a covered event location in 1997. The movable roof enables the entire fortress courtyard and part of the casemates (an area of 2000 m2 in total) to be covered over in just 4 minutes in bad weather. Two lifts also run up to the fortress. The fortress can also be reached on foot via an asphalt road and is only a few minutes’ walk away. Expo and catering in start region of Kufstein

In our expo area in Kufstein in line with the 2018 UCI Road World Championships, several exhibitors will present their products around the topic of cycling. Likewise, there will be gastronomical and musical entertainment in the city along the official route of the race.

From bike brands to lifestyle products – the expo and catering areas offer the possibility to get to know Kufstein either sports-orientated or culinary-relaxed. Interested people are invited to test the newest products and to discover the latest trends from the world of cycling. Additionally, our fanzone will entertain you with music, video walls and catering to stroll around and take a rest.

Camping

A camping site is available at the former barracks (Kasernenareal) on Salurnerstraße.

Race schedule and routes for the UCI Road WC 2018

A total of 12 competitions are held in the categories Men & Women Elite, Men & Women Juniors and Men U-23. From the starting locations of Ötztal, Hall-Wattens, Alpbachtal Seenland and Kufstein, the races run along various routes to the finish in the heart of the provincial capital Innsbruck.
