Passionsspiele Erl

From May to October 2025, the Passion Play will once again take place in the small village of Erl in Tyrol. On Saturdays and Sundays at 1.30 pm, the play of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ will be performed on stage.

A highlight of the Erl Passion Play is the distinctive Stations of the Cross and the mass scenes with around 600 amateur actors and actresses. From toddlers to grandparents, around a third of the inhabitants of Erl take part in the plays, which emphasise the human character.

The Passion Play will be completely restaged in 2025, and the Passion Play Association has been able to attract a high-calibre artistic team in Martin Leutgeb (director and text), Christian Kolonivits (composer), Hartmut Schörghofer (set and lighting design) and Elke Einberger (costumes).
