Teatro comunale di Kufstein: Anfitrione
The Stadttheater Kufstein presents Molière's timeless comedy "Amphitryon" at the Kultur Quartier Kufstein, directed by Andrea Maria Hölbl. The play takes the audience on an amusing journey between the whims of the gods and the weaknesses of humans. The story begins with a divine prank: Jupiter takes on the form of Amphitryon to seduce his wife Alcmene. Supported by Mercury, who appears as his servant Sosias, the boundaries between the gods and mortals increasingly blur. When Amphitryon joyfully returns from battle, confusion reigns as Alcmene informs him that he has already been there. How can this be? In Andrea Maria Hölbl's adaptation, Molière's work prompts reflection on human weaknesses and the hubris of so-called gods. This comedy of mistaken identities highlights the fragility of identity in times of shifting illusions. The cast features Hildegard Reitberger as NIGHT, Markus Mader and Bernhard Buchauer as JUPITER and MERCURY, Gunther Hölbl as AMPHITRYON, Klaus Schneider as his servant SOSIAS, Stefanie Telser as ALCMENE, and Varina Weinert as CLEANTHIS.
