A white surface. In the middle of it a narrow dark line - a wooden fence against the snow cornices. And somewhere in the white two gray spots - a snowplow and behind it a bus. I am six years old, and Tuschl Karli, my best friend, enthusiastically tells me about the drama that is unfolding a few kilometers from our childhood home. The road is impassable. Even the snow plow had gotten stuck, and now we had to wait for the arrival of the pointed plow from Vienna. He alone is trusted to manage the connecting road, which is blocked by snowdrifts as high as a man.
Karl Markovics is one of Austria's most renowned and versatile character actors and is also known far beyond its borders as a director and screenwriter. In the new program, which he presents together with the duo BartolomeyBittmann, everything revolves around the theme of snow and thus sets a thoroughly intentional counterpoint in an increasingly warmer season.
It is a musical journey through the most diverse sonic environments that BartolomeyBittmann undertake: As innovative bridge builders between styles, Matthias Bartolomey (cello) and Klemens Bittmann (violin & mandola) succeed in creating sonic connections that are far removed from the conventional. With their own compositions they open up classical music and cross it with elements of rock, jazz, folk and chamber music - the unmistakably energetic music of BartolomeyBittmann.
