Tour description

ATTENTION: Between September 2021 and April 2022 the Inn cycle path between Erl and Nußdorf will be diverted to the west side of the Inn due to a construction site. A corresponding detour sign is located on site. This should be taken into account when planning your tour.

From the Swiss border over the Kajetansbrücke bridge through lush meadows to the village of Pfunds and on through the varied, sloping valley floor through the villages of Tösens, Ried with its beautiful bathing lake, Prutz to Landeck. From there through meadows and hamlets to Perjen, Zams, Schönwies to the south of Imst. Then on a varied route directly through the Imst gorge past the entrance to the Ötztal valley to Stams (Cistercian monastery) and Telfs. Continue always close to the Inn, past small villages to Zirl and following the river directly to the provincial capital Innsbruck. From Innsbruck downstream on the left bank to Hall, there over the footbridge to the right side of the Inn to Volders. The route then heads downstream across the vegetable fields and residential areas of Wattens and Schwaz on riverside paths and side roads with little traffic. Continuing close to the river to Jenbach, Strass, Brixlegg, Kramsach, past Rattenberg to Radfeld and through meadows to Kundl and Wörgl. Following the Inn to Kirchbichl and partly through beautiful alluvial landscapes to Kufstein and further to the German border at Erl.

Continue

  • The bike path follows the river Inn, thus it tends to go downhill. Most of the way is flat and along the river bank. In places there are gravel passages to ride over, but with normal trekking bikes the route is very good to ride.
  • Helmet, water bottle and lunch box, lock, repair kit and multitools, spare tube, spare cables for brakes and gears, chain and chain locks, air pump, cycling clothes, wind/rain jacket, gloves, hat, ID, sunglasses.
