The practice via ferrata is located in Ellmau above the Gaudeamushütte. The via ferrata, about 50 m long, lies in a beech forest on the south side and has a difficulty rating of B/C. This via ferrata offers a great opportunity to gain a first foothold in the world of via ferratas and get used to the equipment. Surefootedness and a good head for heights are essential! Climbing harness, via ferrata set & helmet required!
Practice via ferrata
Elevation (start): 1400 m
- If you’re coming on the B178 road from Wörgl or Kufstein, take the Ellmau exit and then the first exit at the roundabout. Go straight down the road until you reach the turn-off (green signs) towards Kaisergebirge/Wochenbrunn. Turn left here and immediately right again. Now follow the road, a toll road, till you reach the Wochenbrunner Alm car park. If you’re coming on the B178 from St. Johann, take the Ellmau exit and continue straight ahead until the Bauhof junction (green signposts towards Kaisergebirge/Wochenbrunn). Turn right here and immediately right again. Now follow the toll road till you reach the Wochenbrunner Alm car park.
- Starting point: Wochenbrunner Alm, Ellmau (1,085 m)
Approach: Start at the Wochenbrunner Alm and take trail no. 812/822 following the signs to the Gaudeamushütte. Here you turn onto trail no. 824 heading towards Baumgartenköpfl and you follow this till you come to the junction which leads to the practice via ferrata (signpost). The entrance is about 5-10 minutes away.
