Die Bohne Tirols - Kufstein
The building at Kinkstraße 30, at the foot of Kufstein Fortress, is over 270 years old. This unpolished jewel, which was a gatehouse in the 18th century, was renovated with a lot of loving attention to detail by Christine and Gerold Hell, with the intention of fulfilling their lifelong dream of having their own coffee roasting house and cafe. The top priority of the renovation was to preserve the original building structure, such as the beautiful wall paintings, as much as possible. The use of old craftsmanship, combined with the modern building techniques meant that the old wooden steps, doors, floors and terrazzo flooring was saved. The building is also furnished with furniture and decorative items that Christine and Gerold collected from flea markets and antique shops. Particular attention was given to the unobtrusive integration of modern heating, ventilation and electrical engineering, maintaining the charm of the old rooms. The ground floor of the cafe has a coffee-roasting establishment and an espresso corner. In the first floor are 2 rooms furnished with old renovated furniture. The highlight is the 2nd floor with original exposed roof beams. As well as normal operations, these rooms are popular for celebrations, vernissages and events. The guiding spirit of everything is the goblin Kaffunzel. Some people have even seen her in the building.
