Theme Tour of Emperor Maximilian I.
The Habsburg Emperor Maximilian succeeded in conquering the fortress Kufstein in 1504 from the Bavarians. The Bavarian fortress commander Hans von Pinzenau did not want to leave the castle so easy to the emperor. Maximilian took up the siege and was able to shoot the fortress with the then two strongest guns of the empire - Purlepaus and Weckauf. Following the conquest, Emperor Maximilian had the castle expanded into an impressive fortress.
