Richard III - Film screening
Dear friends of the theatre, Unfortunately, we were not allowed to attend all planned performances of the production "Richard III" by William Shakespeare in March of this year for "Corona". Since we have a very good video recording of this production we have decided to start it on 6 November 2020 at 20.00 in the Kultur Quartier Kufstein to show our audience. So all those who did not have the opportunity to see this play in spring can enjoy our production on a big screen in the Kultur Quartier Kufstein.
No other villain in the Shakespeare universe is as fascinating as Richard III. He is a powerless man without scruples, a master of intrigue, an artist of seduction and a liar without equal. No deed is too horrible for him, no means too raw, no sacrifice too great. In spite of all this, Richard remains sympathetic to the audience in an uncanny way, because the audience is his accomplices. He entrusts himself to us. And we accompany him on his way. Experience how Richard puts himself to power prank by prank. Witness his tricks, his murders, his conquests of women. Experience his rise and fall.
In his adaptation Klaus Reitberger has shortened the original text in the translation by August Wilhelm von Schlegel from over 40 speaking roles to just under 15. The plot was streamlined and modernized. In the tranquil setting of the Theater im Kultur Quartier, this infamous royal drama by William Shakespeare experiences a very special reinterpretation. Excitement is provided for.
Only very few ensembles from the field of non-professional theatre have ventured to perform this play so far. The Stadttheater dares to do so and has an experienced acting team at its disposal.
Experience Gunther Hölbl (most recently as Mackie Messer in "Der Dreigroschenoper" or as a man in "Weibsteufel") in perhaps the most difficult role of his life. At his side are strong female figures embodied by Brigitte Einkemmer ("Die Thurnbacherin", Beatrice in "Viel Lärm um Nichts") and Stefanie Grießer ("Antigone"), as well as tragic heroes played by Klaus Schneider ("Alles auf Krankenschein", Kreon in "Antigone") and Martin Heis ("Kosmetik des Bösen", "Paula"). The former ruler - Hildegard Reitberger ("Shirley Valentine", "Abendrot") and Christl Lutz ("Frau Suitner") - quarrel with their fate. New forces also join the proven team. Maximilian Pfister, Emma and Nik Strohmeyer - all of whom have more than three years of theatre experience at the International School Kufstein - complete the ensemble. Since the director himself will also be on stage, the production will also be based on the input of co-director Ádám Hevér - a Shakespeare expert from Hungary - who has always been interested in Richard III.
