Monobo Son - 'Scheene Wienerin' Tour 2019
Some artists go a long way to find their very original sound. But only these detours create the space for a sound and an artistic personality that is unmistakable, mature, calm and at the same time very dense and urgent. One of these artists is LEMO from Vienna. Born as Clemens Kinigadner and grown up in Graz, Austria, he looks back on a multitude of band projects and live experiences, which have led to LEMO for about five years now. With intoxicating continuing success since the first single "Vielleicht der Sommer", which literally stormed out of nowhere into the top 25 of the Austrian charts and paved the way for a whole series of no less successful hits. Mid-June saw the release of "Souvenir", another single and a foretaste of LEMO's second longplayer. In autumn, LEMO will go on tour, which will also be guesting for eight captivating shows in Austria between 3 and 11 December. The stations are Grieskirchen, Freistadt, Kufstein, Klagenfurt, Graz, Innsbruck, St. Pölten and Vienna.
LEMO has always taken music, its energy and expressiveness extremely seriously. In order never to corrupt them because he has to earn a living with them, he earned his living in jobs as diverse as station cleaners, pizza taxi drivers, financial advisors or guitar sellers. His music is always in view, as well as his songs, which function like a diary from his life. A life filled with emotions of the most multifaceted kind. From euphoria to melancholy, from loving devotion to all-embracing sadness about the end of a partnership: LEMO pours all those moments of great emotion into songs that become a good friend to the listener as soon as they are heard. All this performed in a nonchalant naturalness as well as with a rough voice, a voice experienced in life that immediately captivates.
LEMO's previous successes prove that this is the case: With "Vielleicht der Sommer", "So leicht", "Der Himmel über Wien" and "So wie du bist" he released four singles between 2014 and 2016, all of which climbed high into the Austrian charts. The accompanying album "Stück für Stück", released in 2016, climbed up to number 12 of the Austrian album charts. For his talent to shape true emotions in songs, he was awarded the "Songwriter of the Year" award twice in three years at the Amadeus Awards. The fact that LEMO not only writes fantastic songs, but has also found a wonderfully warm, analogue and thus very unique sound, is due to his training as a sound engineer at the Vienna SAE Institute and his work as a sound engineer at ORF. It is precisely this elegant variety of sounds that will be even more multi-faceted on the forthcoming album and, one hears, courageously and curiously extended by a whole series of electronic sound clouds. "Souvenir" is a wonderful testimony to this and unmistakably offers LEMO's exceptional craftsmanship, but is made with a whole series of new, unexpected "tools".
LEMO's partly autobiographical, partly his environment very closely observing songs are already on record a great pleasure, despite all the melancholy that exudes so many lines of text. But word gets around that LEMO is especially a brilliant live musician. Surrounded by a backing band that is as agile as it is discreet, LEMO has played shows with James Blunt, Walk off the Earth, Söhne Mannheims, Mark Forster, Revolverheld and many others. And he was always able to win the audience over directly. Because LEMO is cool and approachable to the same, calm and yet urgent, playful and yet clear in every line of text. An artist through and through who has found his very own way of pouring Austrian pop into a touching form.
