KlangFarben Kufstein presents the multivision lecture The Doctrine of the Maya by Martin Engelmann at the (appointed) hall of the Kulturfabrik Kufstein on Thursday, January 24, 19.00 pm The whole world as open-air studio Martin Engelmann is a professional photographer, filmmaker and author. His pictures were doing u.a. published at DER SPIEGEL, GEO, DIE ZEIT. In live lectures he reports annually about 100 adventures in Germany, Austria and Switzerland about his adventurous journeys. In September 2017, SPIEGEL published the reportage "DIE LETZTEN MAYA", which was produced in collaboration with Berlin-based filmmaker Katja Döhne. In mid-September, the film documentary "Martin Engelmann and the last Maya" was finally aired on SPIEGEL.TV and SPIEGEL ONLINE. Since 2003, Martin Engelmann has been publishing his most beautiful pictures in the GAIA photo calendar, whose net proceeds go into worldwide social projects. Over the last few years, more than 200,000 euros have been made available for social measures. The calendar project was awarded the "gregor international calendar award" in 2016 and 2017. Martin Engelmann communicates his know-how in photo workshops and seminars. He taught u.a. at the Institute of Media and Communication Science at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt "Photography and Presentation". In autumn 2018, the new illustrated book "THE LAST MAYA" will be published by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, Martin Engelmann will return to the rainforests of Chiapas. The book was once written by the great shaman Chan K'in Viejo and was out of print for a long time, with a social project funding the photographer's remake to to bring the ancient knowledge back to the Mayan Lakandons, the last descendants still living their traditions in part, Martin Engelmann immerses himself in a world of legends and myths, encounters the last Mayan shaman, and embarks on a journey of discovery Traces of the late shaman Chan K'in Viejo, who authored the Maya's last prophecy.In Belize, Martin Engelmann photographed exclusively for the National Institute of History the Mayan caves of Actun Tunichil Muknal, a legendary place of worship of days long forgotten and traveling adventurous routes further into the highlands of Guatemala. There, the photographer climbs the nearly 4,000 meter high volcanoes of Central America and documents the eruption of the active volcano Fuego up close. For more than five years, Martin Engelmann has been working on his new lecture, showing not only Mayan culture, but also the unique natural treasures of Central America, from the evergreen rainforests of Mexico to the volcanic land of Guatemala.
