SPECIAL: Franui - serenading things

Two days after the end of the anniversary year – in 2018 the Musicbanda Franui is 25 years old! – a birthday concert is finally scheduled in the Festspielhaus in Erl: a programme entitled Ständchen der Dinge brings together much of the best that the formation of ten musicians from East Tyrol performed on stage over the last twenty-five years, including many pieces that have not been heard for a long time. The repertoire ranges from funeral march, music for dancing to romantic song – the musicians of Franui give each piece its own unmistakeable sound with their unique combination of string instruments plucked or played with the bow, as well as woodwind and brass. As a “transformer station between classical music, folk music, jazz and contemporary chamber music” the ensemble affectionately celebrates the classical model in all its beauty, which is then turned topsy turvy (or turvy topsy), reduced to a skeleton, enriched, painted over, extended and taken further. The borders between interpret- ation, improvisation, arrangement and (re-) composition are blurred. But of course in Erl that is well known.
