Vorderthiersee is situated directly at the swimming lake. With its over 150 km of brilliantly marked trails Thiersee is an ideal starting point for hiking tours of any kind. Its position by the lake invites also to relaxing walks and strolls. After one of numerous sporty activities being offered like swimming, wind-surfing, boating, tennis, minigolf and fishing, cosy inns and huts invite you to take a rest stop.

The landlords of Thiersee pamper their guests with hearty, local food, their ingredients mostly also come from own production. The romantic little mountain village in about 900 m altitute is surrounded by a fascinating mountain range. Hinterthiersee is a chummy village, which seeks contact to its guests and cherishes it. Since 1799 the highly regarded passion plays are taking place on the sun-kissed plateau, between Bayrischzell and Kufstein. Every six years the villagers perform the 80-year-old mystery play in the directly by the lake situated building.

Did you know that there has been a movie studio in Thiersee after World War II?

On August 14th 1947 the first Austrian after war movie called „The winter melody“ celebrated its world premiere in Vienna. It was made in Thiersee. Not less than 18 movies were produced until 1952 in the film studio in Thiersee with international production companies from Austria, Germany, France, England or Switzerland.

The movie summer 2010 is dedicated to the movie „Blaubart“ (Bluebeard) and the anniversary of Hans Albers‘ death.
