DThe fortress Kufstein - the town’s landmark, cultural highlight and unique event location 


The fortress majestically overlooks the city at the green river Inn. The fortification is presented newly renovated as cultural highlight in Tyrol and is at the same time a monument of eventful centuries. The daily opened great fortress offers its guests lots of history and stories from an eventful past. 


Interactive time travel(s) 

The former state prison in the tower, the museum of local history with lots of interesting stuff around the Tyrolean history or the special exhibition “Emperor Maximilian and the fortress Kufstein” let the history come alive and invite the visitor on a exciting and interesting time travel back into the past. On an interactive sight-seeing tour the guests experience the 60 meter “deep well”, an underground cliff alley, the herb and crop plant garden, the “Elisabeth battery” with the muzzles and much more.


Behind bars at the fortress Kufstein 

The weir was an infamous state prison in times of the monarchy. Lots of people were imprisoned behind the heavy walls of the tower. With beginning of the summer season 2012 there's a thematic special tour "behind bars" which leads a historic view behind the heavy prison doors. The tour can be booked on demand from 25 persons, optional also with culinary entertainment program "from the prison table".


Historically unique event location

The imposing fortress is annually an impressive stage and backdrop for major events of all kinds. Lots of events - from the knights festival (Whitsun) up to the operetta summer (August) - take place at this unique historic ambiance. 


Dining as in the Middle Ages 

Also in a culinary aspect the fortress is worth a visit. A great highlight is the "lord of the castle dinner". The chef serves (on demand, from 10 persons) all kinds of delicacies from kitchen and cellar. With beginning of the summer season the dinner can also be booked with artistic and spectacle supporting program. 



Heroes organ Kufstein - the world's biggest open-air organ


The concert of the heroes organ is daily around 12.00 o'clock after the midday bells of the towns church, if necessary after a short introduction by the organist, and can be listened for around 10 to 15 minutes.


The organ concert is included to the entrance of the fortress Kufstein. If you buy a ticket for the organ concert, you will get the price of the ticket back if you'll take the entrance to the fortress area. Only available on the same day.


During the organ concert the panoramic lift is out of order. During the summer months July and August, the concert of the organ is additionally played also at 6 p.m.
